HOLY CRAP FINALLY the headers will arrive in about a week, so either the weekend of July 15-17 or the 22-24 is the install date. Im working with a cousin who knows what he’s doing, but I will try to help to gain experience of my own.

These are 1 7/8" Kooks Longtubes going on a 2013 Challenger 5.7.

Is it something like removing the motor or heads to put them in? One look under the car shows that it’s quite tight.

What’s the reason that it usually takes 6-8 hours?

Sometimes lifting the car up and feeding them up from underneath works better than going in from the top. Sometimes it doesn’t. Don’t be afraid to do a little creative denting of the tubes if you have to.

You did take the old manifolds off already, right? I just ran into that problem with my trans am, the manifold bolts are rusted solid.

The guy has a lift, which might help.

Ehhh...I wouldn’t want to put a dent in anything that costs as much as these headers - even if it does gain power.

Nobody wants to. The lift will probably be a big help.

Definitely try because if your car is anywhere reasonably old (+10 years) they will be a bitch

Not familiar with those, but since it’s modern I’m assuming you’ll have to lift the engine a bit to make room.

A few things:

1.) Get the best gaskets you can afford

2.) Anti-seize the bolts going in

3.) Get the car as high in the air as you can

4.) Don’t wrap them

Remove plug wires and plugs, stand in the engine bay, feed down past frame rail, secure with bolts. Oh wait... forgot not everyone is working on a truck. LOL.

This, plus use the ultra-high-temp anti-seize.
5.) Loosen your engine mounts, and hopefully you will not have to remove one or both of them. (They can be a pain to get re-aligned when you bolt them back in.)
6.) Get yourself some long 2x4s to use as pry bars, and some +thick+ moving blankets to protect the paint.
Good Luck!
